A Springdale man is facing three felony charges after his wife and another man told police he had hit them with a big rock and a stick.

Jose Aguilar, 36, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 6:43 a.m. Saturday and has a $5,000 bond, according to the Sheriff’s Department website. Aguilar has a April 17 court date. Aguilar faces felony charges of second-degree battery, second-degree battery and terroristic threatening and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and interfering with emergency communications.

A preliminary police report said a man identified as Jesus Oregon, 23, and a woman identified as Aguilar’s wife, Sonia, arrived at the Springdale Police Department and Oregon had several facial lacerations at approximately 6:31 p.m. Friday. Oregon said Jose Aguilar had hit him in the face three times with a “big rock” at the intersection of Powell Street and Lakeside Avenue, the report said.

Sonia Aguilar told officers her husband was jealous because Oregon had given her a tip for work she had done, the report said. Sonia Aguilar said her husband attacked her, too, and hit her in the back of the head and on the wrist with a “stick,” the report said.

Sonia Aguilar told officers her husband had taken her cell phone and threatened to “kill her” if she contacted police, the report said. Oregon said Jose Aguilar had struck his car door with a rock, the report said.

Oregon and Sonia Aguilar were taken to the Northwest Arkansas Medical Center emergency room for treatment for their injuries, the report said.

Springdale officers stopped Jose Aguilar, who was driving a Toyota Tacoma, and arrested him near the intersection of Powell and Daniel Place at approximately 7:12 p.m. Friday, the report said.
