Oklahoma authorities are investigating threats made to a state lawmaker over a bill she authored that would prohibit the sale of horse meat, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Rep. Skye McNiel (R-Bristow) introduced House Bill 1999 in February. The bill would prohibit the sale of horse meat for human consumption.
Bureau agents have been investigating telephone, mail and social media threats made to McNiel concerning the bill. If any suspects are arrested, they may face felony threatening charges.
