Matt Vinson may be staking his claim to the title of ‘Mr. March’.
Vinson’s three run triple in the bottom of the seventh lifted Arkansas to a 5-4 win in the SEC series opener against Mississippi State at Baum Stadium.
Vinson had a solo home run last Saturday against South Carolina and then added the game winning two run single in the 11th inning on Sunday to complete a three game sweep of the Gamecocks.
Arkansas has now won six straight games.
Mississippi State scored a run on a throwing error in the ninth but Colby Suggs recorded the final two outs with runners on second and third to preserve the win.
Arkansas led 2-0 but saw that lead disappear after the Bulldogs plated a run in the top of the seventh to take a 3-2 lead.
Barrett Astin received a no decision after throwing 5.2 innings while allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out six.
