A pregnant Fayetteville woman was hospitalized Thursday after police say her fiancé beat her up in front of their daughter.
John Stevenson, 26, was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of third-degree domestic battery. He remained Friday in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Stevenson’s fiancée told police he punched her in the arm and ribs before kicking her in the ribs while she laid on the floor, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
The couple’s two-year-old daughter was standing in the hallway near where the altercation occurred, the report states. Their one-year-old daughter was in an adjacent bedroom, the alleged victim told police.
The woman told police she was six weeks pregnant, and she was treated at Washington Regional Medical Center.
Stevenson told police he punched her in the arm and ribs after she struck him in the face, according to the preliminary report. He denied kicking his fiancée.
