Kendall Graveman might as well have been the crypt keeper Saturday afternoon.

The Mississippi State pitcher handled the Arkansas offense as he threw a complete game five hitter to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-1 win at Baum Stadium.

Graveman struck out five and allowed just a single first inning run en route to the win. Ryne Stanek was saddled with the loss after he went four innings while allowing three runs and striking out six.

Graveman retired 23 batters in a row in one stretch before hitting Jake Wise with two outs in the eighth. Arkansas left a pair of runners on base in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Tyler Spoon had a pair of hits and a run for the Hogs while Brian Anderson had the team’s lone RBI.

Mississippi State got a RBI from four different players while Hunter Renfroe went 2-for-4 at the plate.

The rubber game of the three game series is set for 1:05 Sunday afternoon.
