A West Fork man faces 16 felony charges after Washington County Sheriff deputies said he threatened to kill and bury people during a disturbance Sunday morning.

Loren “Butch” Rogers was booked in the Washington County Detention Center on Sunday afternoon and does not have a bond amount set, according to the Sheriff’s Department website. Rogers, 63, faces eight charges of terroristic threatening and four each of aggravated assault and aggravated assault against a family member, and he also faces multiple misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and endangering the welfare of a minor.

A preliminary police report said deputies responded to 13300 block of Mineral Springs Road. Deputies were told that Rogers threatened to kill eight people at the residence, including six who were 17 or younger, and bury them, the report said.

The report said Rogers pushed a 36-year-old woman to the ground, pulled a pocket knife and swung it at a 14-year-old boy, who was then slapped by Rogers. Both the woman and boy have the last name of Rogers.

A 30-year-old man intervened and began fighting with Rogers, the report said.

The report said Rogers lost control of the knife and swung a piece of wood at the man, and deputies said the man appeared to have several scrapes on his body from the fight. The boy who had been slapped had red marks on his face, the report said.

The report said four of the eight people are related to Rogers but did not specify which ones.
