Voters in Arkansas will soon be required to show photo identification when they go to the polls.

The state Senate and now the House voted to override Governor Mike Beebe’s veto of the legislation.

Arkansas law currently requires poll workers to ask for identification, but voters without one can still cast a ballot.

The new law will require the state to provide a free photo IDs to voters at a cost of about $300,000. Beebe called the bill an expensive solution to a non-existent problem.
