In his last two road starts Ryne Stanek has proved why he was a Preseason All-American for the Diamond Hogs. Arkansas beat Alabama 6-0 Friday night behind Stanek’s eight innings pitched, allowing zero runs.

Stanek is now 2-0 in his last two road starts, pitching 17 innings, allowing no runs and only 7 hits.

Michael Gunn came in for relief of Stanek and recorded the save in the ninth inning.

The victory clinches the weekend series for Arkansas. It’s just the Razorbacks’ third series win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The shutout was the sixth of the season for the Razorbacks. It was also just Arkansas’ second shutout of the Crimson Tide in series history and the first against Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The Hogs busted the game open early, scoring four runs in the first three innings. Dominic Ficociello has continued his comeback from injury. He had three of the Hogs’ 13 hits. Five other players had a pair of hits. Joe Serrano and Brian Anderson each scored two runs.

Arkansas has now won 16 of its last 19 games and improves to 23-8 overall and 8-3 in the SEC.

The third and final game of the series will be at 1:05 Saturday.
