The Springdale preteen girl missing since Saturday was found safe in Bentonville on Monday, police say.

Megan Anderson’s mother reported the 12-year-old missing Saturday, telling police she had run away from home, according to the Springdale Police Department.

The girl’s family told police they suspected she had run off to her 17-year-old boyfriend. Detectives interviewed the boyfriend, who denied knowing anything about Megan’s disappearance, according to Megan’s family.

Megan was found with the boyfriend in Bentonville by Springdale police. She was safe and unharmed, police said.

Springdale police sent out a notification of the missing girl to area authorities and media Monday.

Megan’s missing person case was assigned to the department’s investigative division, which is unusual for missing persons cases.
