If the college baseball season ended right now the preseason number one team in the country wouldn’t even be hosting a regional. Arkansas has fallen on rough times losing six of its last eight games.

Most tournament predictions have the Hogs in Oklahoma as the two seed in the Norman region. The bats have gone silent in these last eight games and they have the same number of errors, 19, as they do runs in that span.

“It happens to every team every year,” said junior pitcher Barrett Astin. “The best teams go through rough stretches and we're going through one right now. Hopefully we'll pull out of it this weekend. “

Arkansas hosts Texas A&M for a three-game set this weekend, knowing this is the time to get out of their slump. The Aggies are 6-9 in the SEC and have lost the last four games.

“We're just trying to stay positive by picking each other up and just encourage each other,” said junior pitcher Colby Suggs. “If someone hits a ball hard we're picking them up.”

This year’s team is 25-14 overall, only two games off of last year’s record at this point. That’s why the Hogs are not ready to panic.

“We keep reiterating it back and forth to each other,” said junior second baseman Dom Ficociello. “We're going to hit our low points just like we did last year and last year worked out pretty nicely for us.”

Game one with A&M starts at 6:35pm on Friday at Baum Stadium.
