Arkansas looked like they had started to right the ship but Texas A&M changed all that with one swing of the bat.

Jonathan Maroney’s eighth inning grand slam pushed the Aggies to a 5-3 win in the series opener at Baum Stadium. It was Arkansas’ seventh loss in its past nine games.

Chris Oliver gave up the grand slam to the first batter he faced as he was put into the game with the bases loaded.

The loss was the fourth of the week for the Razorbacks (25-15, 9-7 SEC). Arkansas started the week with a loss to LSU and then was swept in a doubleheader at Nebraska on Tuesday. The Cornhuskers no-hit Arkansas for the first time in school history in game one of that doubleheader.

Arkansas jumped out to an early lead when Jordan Farris provided a sacrifice fly. The Hogs expanded the advantage to 3-0 when Matt Vinson’s added a RBI double.

Game two of the league series is scheduled for 7:30 pm Saturday.
