Kelsey Brigance, an MIT student who grew up in Poteau, Okla., spent Friday (April 19) behind locked doors as police searched for one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

The entire city and several surrounding communities were at a standstill, Brigance said.

"Today itself has just been very surreal," Brigance said. "I live on a street that's fairly busy most of the time and it's just been completely, nothing's going on today. I saw one truck go by today, a garbage truck around noon, and that's been it."

Boston, completely shutdown as police searched for one of the bombing suspects.

"I can see how those people must feel,"  Michelle Kimmey, who works in Fort Smith, said. "I mean it's terrible."

"I think there's just been a lot of confusion and anger," Brigance said through tears.

Officials said a campus officer killed at MIT Thursday might have been shot by the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings.
