Flooded streets are a common sight in Northwest Arkansas, with nearly 60 area roads closed weekend ago after heavy rains.

Now, Fayetteville road crews are making sure that doesn't happen in city limits.

The outer eastbound lane of North Street, between Leverett Avenue and Gregg Avenue is closed while road crews install a storm drain. The road work should be complete by Thursday (May 2.) In the meantime, crews are asking drivers to take a different route.

This isn't the only city road that gets hit hard when it rains. The Fayetteville city council just approved $250,000 to repair Rodgers Road, which was damaged after heavy rainfall in recent months.

City workers did emergency repairs of the rain weeks ago, installing a drainage pipe to keep the road and ground from sliding even more.
