A 41-year-old Fayetteville man is behind bars Thursday (May 2) after police say he crashed a stolen sport utility vehicle in a Siloam Springs landfill while fleeing police, then ran away.

Boyd Dean Ingram was booked into the Benton County Jail at 2:21 p.m. and faces charges of fleeing and theft by receiving stolen property, officials said.

The incident that led to his arrest began earlier Thursday when authorities began chasing the suspect after he sped away during a traffic stop near the Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs, Okla., officials said.

A license-plate check revealed the vehicle, a dark blue Dodge Durango, had been stolen from Springdale, authorities said.

The Durango later crashed in a landfill off South Elm Street near Siloam Springs, Ark., and became stuck on a stump.

However, the search at the crash site was discontinued about 9 a.m. because authorities were unsure if the suspect had been picked up by someone in another vehicle, officials said.

The suspect had been identified from surveillance video that authorities obtained from the casino. He was later taken into custody when officers spotted a man who matched the suspect's description, officials said.
