Oklahoma investigators arrested a suspect involved in a 21-year-old cold case in Creek County, Okla.
Grover Prewitt, 60, was arrested on the charge of accessory to first degree murder Thursday (May 2) for his role in the deaths of Wendy Camp, 21, her 6-year-old daughter Cynthia Britto and Camp’s sister-in-law Lisa Kregear, according to the OSBI.
Prewitt concealed the fact the three had been murdered and their bodies had been dumped in an 8-foot deep hole originally dug for a septic tank. Investigators say Prewitt owned the land where the bodies were found at the time and sold it to his mother. He was booked into the Creek County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
A tip last month from Camp’s ex-husband led the OSBI to a piece of land near Jennings, Okla., where they began digging and found the graves of three female victims. Jennings is located about 40 miles west of Tulsa.
DNA will confirm the identities of the three victims, but clothing descriptions at the time of their disappearance and items of clothing found on the skeletal remains and inside the grave indicate the bodies are those of Camp, Britto, and Kregear, according to the OSBI.
On May 29, 1992, Camp, Britto and Kregear traveled to Shamrock, Okla., to visit Camp’s son she had with Chad Noe.
The toddler lived with Noe in Shamrock. Beverly Noe, Chad’s mother, drove the three to and from Shamrock. Beverly Noe claims she dropped off the three at a Wal-Mart in Chandler. The victims were never seen or heard from again.
More arrests are expected.
The OSBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person involved in the murders of Camp, Britto, and Kregear.
