Fort Smith police are searching for a suspect they say robbed First National Bank on Rogers Avenue just before 6 p.m. Friday (May 3).

The bank is located at 5201 Rogers Avenue near Central Mall, according to a police dispatcher.

The suspect is a white male, last seen wearing a blue Key Energy baseball cap, a red and black Razorback jacket and white khaki pants. He’s believed to be driving a blue extended cab Ford Ranger with possible Oklahoma tags, Sgt. Daniel Grubbs said.

Police believe he is about 65 years old, with no facial hair.

The vehicle was last seen headed west on Rogers Avenue, according to Sgt. Grubbs.

The man walked into the bank just before 6 p.m. carrying a sack in his hand and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied, Grubbs said. No word on how much money was taken.

Police do not believe the man had a weapon.

The Fort Smith Police Department circulated photographs taken from surveillance video during the robbery that they hope will help lead to identifying the suspect.
