Benton County Judge Bob Clinard declared a disaster for Benton County after heavy rains cause roads to close Thursday (May 9) and early Friday (May 10)

A flash flood warning was issued for Benton, Washington and Madison Counties late Thursday but the National Weather Service allowed it to expire at 4:30 a.m. Friday.

Parts of the county received nearly six inches of rain in a 24-hour period, closing dozens of roads and highways in Benton County.

Bentonville dispatch reported one residence had to be evacuated due to high water in Bentonville.

A Black Ford Mustang was submerged in water Friday morning at Fish Hatchery Road in Centerton.

Benton County Emergency Management and the Benton County Road Department are currently working to assess the damage from this event. Due to the amount of roads currently impassable due to water levels, the full extent of damage will not be known for a few days.
