The Tri-Delt sorority at the University of Arkansas gathered Tuesday (May 21) to remember two students killed in a boating accident earlier this month.
The memorial was held in the Union Verizon Ballroom on the Fayetteville campus.
Rachel Swetnam, of Grove, Okla., and William “Trey” Varner III, of Texarkana, Ark., were killed when the ski boat they were riding in collided with a docked house boat on Grand Lake near Grove May 14.
A funeral service for Swetnam was held in Tulsa Saturday (May 18). A service for Varner was held the next day in Texarkana.
Six other people were on the ski boat when the collision happened. Investigators believe alcohol and speed played a factor in the accident.
