Traffic was slowed Monday afternoon in Rogers after a car allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a diesel truck, spilling fuel along the street, according to police.

A car crash and subsequent diesel fuel spill from a lumber yard delivery truck shut down the area near Eighth Street and New Hope Road shortly after 2 p.m., according to the fire and police departments.

Crews worked to contain the 100-gallon diesel fuel spill and covered the spill area with material meant to soak up the fuel. Firefighters initially believed someone may have been hurt, but there ended up being no injuries, according to the Rogers Fire Department.

Police diverted traffic through a parking lot to get around the area, said Officer Keith Foster with the Rogers Police Department.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department assessed the scene and opened the intersection back up just before 5 p.m.
