Two Arkansas cities have made a top 10 list for being the least expensive places to live in the country.

Fayetteville has been ranked the fifth least expensive place to live in the U.S. The study is according to kiplinger.com and was released Wednesday (June 5), for the year 2013.

Steve Clark with the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce isn't surprised by the study.

"The region has grown 31 people a day since 1990, every day since 1990,” Clark said. “That includes birthrate as well as people who moved in, but that's a great number."

The study calculated living expenses in 307 urban areas with a population over 50,000 people. The calculations estimate that cost of living is 14 percent lower than the national average. The study says it’s thanks to low housing prices, transportation, food and utility costs.

Conway is the other Arkansas city that made the top 10 list, coming in at number 9.
The survey names Harlingen, Tex., as the least expensive place to live in the country.
