Tyler Spoon helped lead Arkansas to 39 wins and now he is getting recognized for it.

The Van Buren native was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball.

Spoon led the team with 49 RBI, which was the eighth highest in the SEC, and tied for the lead with four home runs. Spoon hit .288 for the Razorbacks and also tied for a team high 68 hits.

The freshman outfielder started off the season as the team’s biggest surprise as his average was well above .300 for most of the season. Spoon had 11 games in which he drove in multiple runs and had 17 multi-hit games.

Spoon started all 61 games for Arkansas in 2013 and also tied for the best defensive fielding percentage on the team.
