Benton County Deputies Target Drug Traffickers on I-540

More than 20 people were arrested last week as the Benton County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit and Patrol Division conducted an Interdiction operation on Interstate 540 this past week.

Deputies seized 176 grams of marijuana, 1.5 grams of cocaine, LSD, 38 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, one gram of ecstasy and 51 grams of hashish, according to Deputy Keisha Guyll.

Four vehicles, several firearms and $12,000 in cash were also seized.

The officers covered the I-540 from the Missouri-Arkansas border to the Washington County line. However, the area most concentrated on was Bella Vista and north Bentonville, according to Deputy Keisha Guyll.

Deputy Guyll said the charges in the arrests ranged from drug and firearm possession to resisting arrest.
