The man suspected of stealing a vehicle from a Fayetteville dealership during a test drive last week was arrested Thursday night.

Steven Moden, 25, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center shortly before 7 p.m. He was apprehended by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, according to Washington County Detention Center records. He is being held in jail on an alleged probation violation.

Police said Moden and Montee Crumpler-Nickels, 33, entered Fayetteville Auto Park on May 29 and looked at two vehicles, a 2013 black Toyota Highlander and a 2013 black Toyota Tundra. The couple said they had recently gain money from selling a house and wanted to buy a few vehicles, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Moden, of Huntsville, and Crumpler-Nickels, of Rogers, allegedly test drove the vehicles and left. The vehicles were recovered Wednesday in Madison County, police said.

Moden was sentenced to six years probation in 2010 as the result of a plea deal stemming from a theft of property arrest in 2009, according to Washington County Circuit Court records.

Crumpler-Nickels has not been arrested, records from area counties show. She does not have a felony criminal record in Washington County, according to records.
