Gravette Mayor Byron Warren said Monday (June 10) he is running for the state House District 92 seat in the 2014 election.

The representative in that Benton County district, Mary Lou Slinkard, a Republican living in Gravette, is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

Warren, a former Gravette City Council member, is in his third year in the part-time mayor’s position. He serves full time as a captain in the Siloam Springs Fire Department.

The 40-year-old Republican said if elected he will work to boost economic development in the area and will coordinate with higher-education institutions such as NorthWest Arkansas Community College to build satellite campuses in the district.
