“This is the first place that these girls come, so we try to have it perfect,” said Wayne Tuck, Chairman of the Range.
Despite the rain, players were out on the course practicing their swing for the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G.
“It pretty well has to be lightning and really coming down hard before these girls don’t play and I've only in seven years it’s only been twice that they've had to shut the range down and of course the first year it was flooded out,” said Tuck.
LPGA Club Repair Technician Paul Boehmer set up his trailer and is on standby to make repairs.
“We do a lot of customizing when we work on their golf clubs, from grip size. So everyone is very unique, they have their own fingerprint and we keep all those files on the computer so we know exactly where we need to get back too,” said Boehmer.
Before the qualifying round Monday afternoon, twenty-four kids from the organization First Tee were selected to play side by side with the pros.
“It gets the kids out, the kids learning with the Pros, it builds everything about them, their character. A lot of kids don`t have the opportunity to do this,” said Tuck.
Players will compete in an 18-hole round for the final two spots in the field for the tournament.
Emma Lavy, just finished her junior season at the University of Arkansas and Summar Roachell, a Conway High School graduate who will gold the Razorbacks in the fall, will participate in the qualifier.
