Medical Examiner Identifies Body Found in Creek

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner has identified the body of a man found in June in a creek near the mouth of the Arkansas River as 53-year-old Timothy Wade Ward.
Ward was reported missing to Sallisaw Police on Tuesday (July 2), according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.

Lockhart said they are following leads as to how Ward’s body made it into Sallisaw Creek, and why he didn’t have shoes or a wallet.

Lockhart says they will be reviewing video of Ward’s last known location. The Sheriff’s Department has a person of interest who was seen with Ward, according to Lockhart.

The state medical examiner found no sign of foul play in the man’s death and it appears that he drowned, Lockhart said Monday (July 1).

The body was pulled from Sallisaw Creek on June 27. The medical examiner believes the body had been in the water between two weeks to a month.

He was wearing size 36×34 blue jeans and an XL turquoise t-shirt wrapped around his belt buckle. The man also appeared to be wearing “no slip” socks like the ones worn by patients in hospitals.

If you have any information on the investigation, you’re asked to call the sheriff’s office at (918) 775-9155.
