Elderly Man Drowns In 5 Feet Of Water

A 70-year-old Oklahoma man drowned Friday afternoon in Kay County after the boat he was on capsized, according to state police.

Billy Joe Ging, 70, of Enid, died at about 3:15 p.m. on Kaw Lake just south of Bear Creek Cove. Ging was on a boat, getting ready to tow his grandson’s boat to the shore, when the victim’s boat capsized, according to an Oklahoma State Police fatality report.

Police said Ging died in five feet of water. The Oklahoma City Medical Examiner has not yet determined an official cause of death.
