32 teams and two days later Mississippi’s Olive Branch Conquistadors are the winners of the Southwest Elite 7 on 7 Showcase. The Conquistadors beat Derby, Kan. 36 – 9 in the title game.

“There’s a lot of great teams out here and great competition,” said Olive Branch senior safety Alfred Dickens. “For us to be the final one, holding the trophy it’s a great feeling.”

Eight local teams competed in the tournament.

Charleston was the smallest school there, going 6-1 in pool play, 3-2 in the bracket.

Springdale lost to Charleston in the elimination 3rd round. They went 2-5 in the pool play.

Shiloh Christian beat Alma in the first round of the bracket and went 2-4-1 in pool play. Both those teams lost early in the bracket.

Bentonville had a rough go with the 7 on 7, not their strong suit, going 2-4-1 in pool play and eliminated three games into the bracket.

Har-Ber only lost to one team all weekend long, Hoover Ala., once in the pool play, twice in the bracket.

Fayetteville went 7-0 in pool play and made it all the way to the quarterfinals, but they were beaten by the Champions Olive Branch and Broken Arrow in the bracket.

Heritage lost to Fayetteville in double overtime in the 3rd round, then lost again to Broken Arrow in the elimination round. The War Eagles went 5 -2 in pool play.
