A Sebastian County judge needs more information before making a decision on whether to issue a gag order in a capital murder trial in Fort Smith.

Gregory Aaron Kinsey, 20, accused of attacking two men, Nathan Young and Brandon Prince, with a machete in Fort Smith on June 26.  Kinsey is charged with two counts of capital murder. Attorney Teri Chambers, who represents Kinsey, requested a gag order be issued.

Judge Stephen Tabor told the attorneys in a Wednesday (July 17) hearing he needs a copy of the information already released concerning the case before making the decision.

The judge granted part of Chambers' motion and advised attorneys and investigators to not speak about the case. Tabor is expected to make a full ruling on the gag order next Tuesday (July 23).

According to court documents, Kinsey said he was walking back from the Dollar Store when he thought he saw a person who used to date his mother. While looking through a backyard, Kinsey said he was confronted by three people who wanted to know why he was there.

Kinsey and the victims exchanged words and Kinsey pulled out a machete to warn them, the documents state.

Kinsey told police he didn’t think the men would let him go so he started swinging the machete, striking two of them. The men backed away, but Kinsey told police he pursued them and hit one of them in the alley, according to court documents.

Kinsey is being held without bond in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center.
