More than a dozen Benton County businesses were approved for liquor permits Wednesday, as the second of three days-worth of hearings wrapped up in Little Rock.

The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control division started hearings Tuesday to determine which Benton County businesses would be granted liquor licenses. Fifty-five business owners were chosen in a random drawing last month to enter in a chance to receive liquor permits. More than 70 had applied, according to the ABC.

During Wednesday’s hearings, 14 businesses were approved for liquor permits, while seven were denied. Eight were approved and three denied during Tuesday’s hearings, according to the ABC.

The remaining 23 businesses who won last month’s drawing will be considered for liquor permits during Thursday’s hearings. Those approved will not be able to use their permits to sell liquor until the 30-day mandatory waiting period has passed, meaning Benton County will likely start to see operating liquor stores by about mid-August, according to the ABC.
