A man was hospitalized Tuesday night following a rollover car crash on the interstate near Lowell, according to the Arkansas State Police.

State police and emergency crews responded just after 7 p.m. to the southbound lane of Interstate 540, near Exit 78. The driver, identified by state police as Melchor Figueroa, was driving his 2003 Dodge Stratus southbound on I-540, when he lost control of his car, according to a state police crash report.

Figueroa remained Wednesday in Northwest Medical Center in Springdale in critical condition, officials said.

Figueroa’s car traveled across the yellow line and struck a guardrail before overturning onto its top, police said.

Arkansas State Police, the Springdale Fire Department and the Lowell Fire Department responded to the scene.

Public records indicate Figueroa's most recent address is in Springdale.
