Deadly Fire Under Investigation in Yell County

Arkansas State Police and the Yell County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a house fire that killed a woman over the weekend.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home on Richardson Lane just sound of Blue Mountain Lake in Havana around 8 p.m. Saturday (July 20). Three hours later the body of 55-year-old Diane Bryant-Phelps was found inside the home.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Investigators recovered evidence from the debris which may be helpful in determining what started it. The home and two vehicles were destroyed by the fire, according to deputies.

Deputies say the woman lived alone and that her husband had recently passed away.
