Siloam Springs firefighters simulated a shooting exercise at a local school Thursday, to find out how best to treat patients during an active shooting.

Emergency medical crews underwent the training scenario at a Siloam Springs middle school. They said active shootings in a single location, such as the 1999 Columbine incident, showed authorities that emergency crews needed to respond quicker to those who are injured.

Thursday’s training was Part 2 of a Tactical Combat Casualty Care course. The Siloam Springs Fire Department would be the only department in Arkansas with TCCC certification, they said.
