A man was hospitalized early Friday afternoon after police say he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a busy Springdale roadway.

Emergency crews responded shortly before 1 p.m. to the intersection of Huntsville Avenue and Virginia Street. A man who looked to be in his 20s was riding across the intersection on his bicycle, when he came up on a pickup truck with a trailer that was driving through the intersection.

The truck collided with the bicyclist. The man had bruises on his head, but his injuries are non-life-threatening, according to the Springdale Police Department. He was transported to Northwest Medical Center by Springdale Emergency Medical Services, police said.

Police do not expect to issue any citations in the crash.
