Authorities have identified the man who drowned in Beaver Lake early Tuesday night.

Doug Jones, 60, died after being pulled from the water at about 5:45 p.m., according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Emergency responders tried to revive him and life-flight him to a nearby hospital, but efforts to resuscitate the man were not successful.

Crews responded to the Heritage Bay area of Beaver Lake in Benton County, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office. By the time emergency workers arrived on scene, the body of a man had been pulled out of the water and CPR was being administered.

Emergency medical crews took over the scene and transported the man by helicopter to an area hospital, authorities said.

5NEWS learned the identity of the man shortly after 8 p.m., but decided to withhold the name until Wednesday, to allow next-of-kin to be notified of the man's death.

Crystal Parker said she was the victim's neighbor at the Heritage Bay condos. She said Jones was a kind man.

"I loved watching him out with his dog, he'd throw something in the water and his dog would go out and get it," Parker said. "I will miss him, although i didn't see him very much, but he was a nice man."
