Springdale police arrested a man Friday night they say fired gunshots into a bedroom wall and into the air while threatening to kill himself and a woman.

Trevor Phillips, 21, was arrested and booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 7:10 p.m. on suspicion of aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm. He remained in jail Friday night while awaiting a bond hearing, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Springdale officers responded Tuesday to Oriole Street in reference to a call of gunshots. When they arrived at the scene, eyewitnesses told police Phillips had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend inside her apartment. He allegedly pulled out a gun and fired it into the bedroom wall after saying, “You don’t think that I will kill us both?”

The woman told police Phillips and another man were in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 1409 Oriole St. when Phillips became upset again, pulled out the gun and fired it into the air. He then fled, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Police recovered two .380-caliber shell casings at the scene.

Officers caught up with Phillips on Friday night and placed him under arrest.
