The summer season is known for it’s box office releases, and 74 years ago the most watched film was released in theaters. The Library of Congress deems “The Wizard of Oz” as the most watched film ever made. The 1939 movie was nominated for six Academy Awards when it was released, including Best Picture. However, “The Wizard of Oz” was not wildly successful at the box office. It wasn’t until it was released to television that a following happened.
