A high-speed chase through Fayetteville landed one man in jail Monday morning (Aug. 26).

Curtis Coulter was arrested on a charge of fleeing, reckless driving and other charges after he wrecked his motorcycle on Mall Avenue.

The chase began around 2:45 a.m. on Interstate 540 near Mt. Comfort and Shiloh Drive and reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour, according to police.

A Washington County deputy attempted to stop Coulter for going to fast. The suspect led the deputy through side streets, crashed and took off running. Coulter was found not far away hiding behind a dumpster, according to deputies.

He sustained minor cuts and bruises, but was not taken to the hospital.The incident is under investigation. Deputies say it’s unclear why he ran from them.
