Almost 10 months after voters turned Benton County wet, the county’s first liquor store opened in Bentonville.

Star Liquor, on Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard, opened its doors Wednesday (Aug. 28), according to store manager Manjit Singh. The liquor store is connected to the Airport C-Store, but has a separate address, Singh said.

State alcohol officials examined 55 possible liquor permits at separate board meetings in July, but store owners had to abide by a 30-day waiting period. They were also required to address any appeals of the granting of their permits and receive final approval from Alcoholic Beverage Control, according to the ABC.

Star Liquors received final approval from the ABC on Monday, and store employees picked up their permit Tuesday. They began selling products Wednesday, Singh said.
