A young boy was hospitalized Tuesday night after being hit by a car in Springdale, according to emergency crews.

Springdale authorities responded at about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Stagecoach Avenue and Butterfield Coach Road in reference to a four-year-old boy being hit by a vehicle, according to the Springdale Police Department.

The extent of his injuries is unknown. He was transported by an ambulance with lights and sirens to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, police said. The boy was responsive when emergency crews arrived.

The woman driving the gray Toyota Corolla that hit the child was cooperative with officers. Police said the boy was playing outside at the time of the collision.

An eyewitness said the driver told police she was driving at 25 miles per hour, but the eyewitness thought the car was traveling faster than that.
