Alex Collins Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Collins leads the SEC in rushing yards per game and is sixth in the country.

Arkansas running back Alex Collins was named the SEC Freshman of the Week Monday for his performance in Arkansas' 31-21 win over Samford on Saturday.

Collins rushed for 172 yards and one touchdown and ranks first in the SEC and sixth in the nation in yards per game (151.5).

Collins is the first freshman running back in Arkansas history to rush for more than 100 yards in each of his first two games of his career. Last week he had 131 yards in the 34-14 win over UL-Lafayette.

Overall, Arkansas ranks first in the SEC and 11th in the country in rushing yards per game with 312.5.

Injury Update: Defensive starters Rohan Gaines and Trey Flowers did not play on Saturday. Coach Bret Bielema told the media on Monday that both players will be back in full action this week.

Linebacker Otha Peters and tight end Austin Tate have been sidelined with injures all year. Both have a chance to return on Saturday against Southern Mississippi pending X-rays.

Starting linebacker Jarrett Lake, who was suspended Saturday for violating teams rules, is also back this week.

Kickoff is set for 11:21 a.m. at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
