Flowers at Full Health For Southern Miss Game

Trey Flowers missed last Saturday’s game with an injury but returns to the field this weekend against Southern Mississippi.

Arkansas starting defensive end Trey Flowers will return to the field Saturday against Southern Mississippi after sitting out last weekend with an injury.

Flowers told the media on Wednesday that he has been full-go at practice and has nothing holding him back in regards to injuries.

In the opener against Louisiana, Flowers was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, with two sacks, 4.5 tackles and a forced fumble.

Safety Rohan Gaines is battling an injury and has been practicing this week, but defensive coordinator Chris Ash says his participation on Saturday will be unknown.

Southern Mississippi comes into Razorback Stadium  having lost 14 straight games, the longest active FBS losing streak in the country. They have the nation's worst rushing offense, averaging 42.5 yards per game.

The Hogs boast the 15th best total defense in the country, allowing just 98 yards a game on the ground.

The defense comes into the game riding an emotional high after forcing Samford to back to back three and outs to complete the 31-21 comeback last Saturday.

Southern Miss does most of its damage through the air, averaging 300 yards passing, 28th best in the country. However, the Golden Eagles have been turnover prone. Quarterback Allan Bridgford has thrown five interceptions in the two losses.

Arkansas failed to force a takeaway in the Samford game last weekend, something the defense is putting an emphasis on this week in practice.
