Fort Smith police tracked down a suspected burglar thanks to a cell phone he left behind.

Michael Lee Lonewolf, 44, is being held at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on felony charges of commercial burglary and theft of property, according to a police report.

He is suspected of breaking into Sue White Homes on Rogers Avenue and taking computer equipment and a safe, as well as stealing a 2004 Chevrolet truck on Wednesday (Sept. 18).

While processing the scene, officers found a cell phone charging in an outlet. Investigators looked at the phone and found Lonewolf’s Facebook profile.

Text messages and pictures from the phone led investigators to believe the suspect may have been staying at a campground near Lock and Dam 13.

Lonewolf and the stolen truck, with the computer equipment and safe inside, were later found at the campground near Barling.

Lonewolf was also arrested on two failure to appear warrants, according to police. His bond was set at $12,000.00.
