Sgt. Dawn Sprayberry, a 22-year veteran of the Fort Smith Police Department, was recently named the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association’s “Investigator of the Year” at a conference in Nashville, Tenn.

She was nominated by Chief Kevin Lindsey.

“Sgt. Sprayberry is the longest tenured Internal Affairs supervisor/investigator in the department’s history; and her professional approach to carrying out the varied duties of the Office of Professional Standards/Internal Affairs Investigator begins with the application of common sense, a sincere dedication to the citizens of our community, and a genuine respect for all members of the department,” he said.

Sprayberry was chosen among 15 nominees from across the country by the association’s board members. She has served in the Office of Professional Standards/Internal Affairs for a litter more than five years.
