The 14th annual Bikes Blues and BBQ tasting competition is in full swing. Everything from chicken to brisket is on the menu and the competition is fierce.
Thousands of hungry souls stood in line for hours Friday (Sept. 20) at the Washington County Fairgrounds, all to taste some of the best bbq Arkansas and beyond has to offer.
Friday's tasting was "peoples choice" and started at 6:30p.m. Tasters voted for their favorite BBQ participant and the fun isn't over just yet. Judges choice is set for Saturday (Sept. 21). Over 60 judges from the Kansas City BBQ Society will determine those winners.
"Tomorrow it'll go up several notches as we will have 48 cooks signed up, its the third largest we have had representing about 15 states and we'll be giving away about 20 thousand dollars in prize money", said Ron Autry, the tasting event organizer.
The winners of the people's choice will be announced Saturday afternoon along with the judges choice category.
Event organizers also say There will be free samples on Saturday, of all the BBQ starting at 12noon at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Admission is free.
