Eight months after being fired, Andy Reid returned to Philadelphia and beat the team that he had coached for 14 years.

Kansas City defeated Philadelphia Thursday night, 26-16, improving to 3-0 on the season and already surpassing the win total of 2012.

The Chiefs defense forced five Eagles turnovers and sacked quarterback Michael Vick six times while Alex Smith threw for 273 yards and Jamaal Charles ran for 92 more and score.

The Eagles came into the game boasting the league’s flashiest new offense behind first-year coach Chip Kelly. Ultimately, that became their own demise. Philadelphia held the ball for only 20 minutes while Kansas City had it for almost 40.

Michael Vick struggled navigating the up-tempo offense, completing just 13 of 30 passes with two interceptions, including an Eric Berry 38-yard return for a touchdown that gave the Chiefs a 10-0 lead four minutes into the game.

The Chiefs led 16-6 going into half time after two Ryan Succop field goals in the second quarter.

Kansas City put the game away early in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard score from Charles, making the score 23-9.

The Chiefs face the New York Giants next Sunday at home for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
