Rutgers scored the final 21 points in the second half as the Scarlet Knights knocked off Arkansas for the second straight season.

Arkansas led 24-7 midway through the third quarter but Gary Nova led Rutgers (3-1) to a 28-24 win.

The Rutgers comeback was sparked by a 58-yard punt return for a touchdown by Janarion Grant late in the third quarter, cutting the Arkansas lead to 24-14.

Nova then added touchdown passes of 33 and 4 yards to put the Scarlet Knights out in front. Nova hit Leonte Carroo for 33 yards on a 4th-and-12 with 9:55 left in the game.

Arkansas had one last chance with five minutes left in the game but was forced to punt. Rutgers picked up a pair of first downs and was able to run out the clock.

A.J. Derby, who was starting for the injured Brandon Allen, was 14-of-26 passing for 137 yards and a 17 yard touchdown pass to Javontee Herndon in the second quarter. Nova finished with 346 yards and three touchdowns.

Arkansas was held to just 101 yards rushing after averaging nearly 300 through the first three weeks of the season. Alex Collins led the Razorbacks with 63 yards on 16 attempts.

Rutgers’ Paul James rushed for 80 yards on 17 attempts before leaving the game with a right leg injury.
