Kids Day at the Fair

Thousands of 4H and FFA kids were at the Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair Wednesday (Sept. 25) to show their prized livestock.

Educational Youth Day activities were held throughout the morning and afternoon. Visitors could stroll through the Harper Stadium and Hugh Hardin Arena to check out the livestock and plants up for judging.

For many, the fair is the culmination of months of training and preparation. However, not all of the competitors were showing animals.

The Branum sisters, Olivia and Emily, with the Sebastian County FFA were there to prove how much they know about rabbits. The sisters, who live in Greenwood, said they would be tested on their knowledge of rabbit parts and how to care for rabbits as well as their ability to identify different rabbit breeds.

Visitors to the fair can get free gate admission with a canned good or $1 donation until 5 p.m. As part of Kids Day, carnival rides for kids 18 and under are reduced by one ticket until 6 p.m.
