Christopher Simpson, 27, of Fort Coffee, Okla., was found guilty Thursday (Sept. 26) on two counts of first-degree murder in the April 8, 2012, shooting death of Kaloni Flynn and her 12-week-old fetus. Simpson was the father of Flynn's unborn baby, and was upset because she refused to have an abortion, according to authorities.

After six days, a jury of nine women and three men began deliberating Thursday morning around 11. They came back with their verdicts just before 6.

The jury, recommending Simpson serve life without parole on each count as well as pay a $10,000 fine on each count.

" Life without parole is not going to bring my daughter back," Herbert Flynn said. "I don't care how many years he sits in jail thinking about what he did, it's not going to bring her back."

Prosecutors said cell phone records show Simpson called Flynn to have her meet him on a rural road outside of Pocola, Okla., where she was found shot in the head in her car the next day.

"I just couldn't believe it," DeLana Watts, Flynn's mother, said. "I dropped the phone and started screaming. That was the worst day of my life. I just couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it."

After she was found dead, a witness told police Simpson was bragging that he had committed the perfect crime.

"She's gone, but she'll never be forgotten," Herbert Flynn said.

Simpson is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 8 in front of Judge Jeffrey Singer for a formal sentencing.
