A fire damages a historic church late Friday night (Sept. 27).

The fire broke out on Tucks Chapel road, in Benton county.

Firefighters from Rogers, Little Flock, Pea Ridge, Benton county and Avoca all responded.

Officials say a passerby saw the flames and called 911.

When crews arrived, half of Tucks Chapel was consumed by smoke and flames.

There was no one inside at the time, so no injuries were reported but the fire did do thousands of dollars, worth of damage.

"Its a very historic church luckily someone did drive by and see it we dont anticipate foul play ... it looks to be a electrical fire", said Fire Marshall Marc Trollinger.

The church was built in the late 1800s and is still used by members.
